Fair Association board members include Randy Bergman, Danny Buls, and Chris Knapp. The Softball Association representatives are Chris McCarville, Greg Miller, and Travis Nuss. “We’re looking forward to beginning construction in 2016,” stated Greg Miller, board president. He continued, “Our governing board serves as the decision-making body that will guide this project through the completion of Phase 1, which includes the site entrance road, parking areas, the first quad of multi-purpose ball diamonds and the essential facilities needed to operate the Bremer County Fair at the site.”
The board has been working with Confluence, a landscape architecture and design firm in Cedar Rapids/Des Moines, to prepare the final site design and construction documents for Champions Ridge.
The board also hired Traci Magsamen as a part-time fundraising campaign associate to work with the board and project volunteers to help secure donations and grant funds for the project. Traci, who grew up in Fairbank, IA, and worked for many years at CUNA Mutual Group, recently launched a part-time human resources consulting business, Perspective HR Solutions.
Fred Ribich, chair of the campaign steering committee says, “Traci brings to our campaign a great enthusiasm for community-focused initiatives and a wealth of experience in working with diverse groups.” He added, “She’s been an active volunteer in several organizations serving our area, working to keep our communities strong and vital. Traci will hit the ground running, pouring her energy and creativity into our fundraising efforts.”
Champions Ridge is located along the north side of Highway 3 on the west edge of Waverly. The site will host the Bremer County Fair and a ball diamond complex serving youth baseball and softball, as well as adult softball. It provides a safe, dependable, up-to-date, and permanent home for youth ball leagues and tournaments as well as county fair events. The design allows for future expansion and opportunities for increased economic impact.
